BARK FINES
ABOUT BARK FINES
Bark fines are a byproduct of the lumber industry, produced from softwood. Before being added to our locally sourced potting mixes, the bark fines are aged for several months, making them more stable than fresh bark. This aging process enhances their chemical and physical properties, ensuring better drainage and aeration in potting mixes and container plants.
Key Features:
Screened from aged softwood bark
High organic content
Promotes drainage and aeration
Suitable for potting mixes and container gardening
AGED BARK FINES
Our Aged Bark Fines are premium softwood mulch made from carefully screened aged bark. With its high organic matter content, this product enhances soil health and plant growth. Compared to other mulches, it has a naturally lower pH, making it ideal for encouraging plant growth and seed germination when used as a soil amendment.
When applied as a mulch, Aged Bark Fines help retain moisture in the soil while suppressing weed growth. Its rich dark brown to black colour, uniform texture, and fresh, earthy aroma make it a great addition to any garden or landscape.
Aged Bark Fines are suitable for many plants, including trees, shrubs, and perennials. They can also be used to amend soil, especially for plants that thrive in lower pH environments or soils needing a boost of organic matter. This product can increase beneficial soil microbes, improve soil structure, and gently lower soil pH for healthier, more vibrant plants.
